Puppies

We are believers in full healthtesting for the breed.

Although things can still happen environmentally, as breeders, we do our part in doing all health testing as recommended by the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America)

For Cardigans, the OFA has listed Hips (OFA or Pennhip), yearly Eyes (OFA done by Opthamologist) and DNA testing for PRA.

At Ravenwood, we test OFA hips & Pennhip

We test yearly eyes with a board Opthamologist (CullenWebb)

We do OFA elbows

We do DNA testing for PRA & DM, we also test for Fluff, the fluff gene does not hurt the health of a pup but we want to know what to expect coatwise.

Testing is done by age, PRA, DM and Fluff can be done young. Finals for OFA Hips and Elbows are done at 2 or older (prelims can be done prior), Pennhip can be done as young as 16 weeks with accuracy but we have chosen 1 year of age to have these completed as a puppy would be starting to come together nicely at this point and I feel, after discussion with our repro vet, that this age would provide us the best possible visual.

Puppies are born and raised in home, I work from our property so there is always someone on site.

We believe the right start is necessary for rearing sound puppies so programs of Puppy Culture and Early Neurological Stimulation are followed.

We do not follow a first come first choice method.

Puppies are chosen by the breeder to which homes they will work best in by their temperament and personalities to ensure the best possible chance of success in their new homes.

All puppies go home at 9 weeks old or later depending on development.

All puppies are CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registered, microchipped, dewormed and 1st set of vaccinations.

All Puppies are sold on a strict non breeding contract to pet homes.

We are currently planning a breeding spring of 2026 with an outside male.
